Wheels Celebration

We have a new traffic light in Room 2.

It shows how well we are doing with behaviour and we decided on the statements ourselves.  Things like "We listen respectfully to the speaker", "We follow instructions" and "We include others".  We're all working really hard on having GREEN traffic light behaviour because that means we can be part of the ABC (Awesome Behaviour Celebration)

Have a look at us enjoying our celebration of awesome behaviour and read a few stories that some of us wrote last week.

Some of us weren't able to bring wheels so we had a few hula hoops on hand.  We tried doing back spins to make the hoops roll away then back to us.  It was tricky!!

On wheels day I was happy.  We played with the hula hoops.  - by Caitlin

We had a wheels day because we were good.  I was happy.  We rode scooters and bikes.  We were happy. - by Luke

On Friday it was wheels day.  I brought my scooter to school.  The ground was wet because it was raining before.  The ground had puddles.  There were some clouds. - by Paige

I rode my scooter on the tennis court.  I rode over 3 holes.  It was a sunny day to ride my scooter. - by Zane

I went for a ride on my scooter.  Wow.  I liked it.  Wow.  It was super cool. - by Josiah

I was incredibly proud of Room 2.  Everyone was happy to share their wheels to make sure everyone had a turn.  Special thanks to Libby and Aden for bringing extra wheels to share.

We Have the Power to make changes!

We have been discovering that we have the power to make changes.  A couple of weeks ago some of us noticed some problems with the 'Jobs Wheel' in Room 2.

We put our BLACK thinking hats on and actually noticed 5 problems or bad points.  This week we put our YELLOW  thinking hats on and made a note of the good points.  Then we looked at 3 different classroom 'jobs' charts that Mrs Bennington found on the internet.  We all thought really hard and came up with lots of good and bad points about the 3 charts.

Here are some photos of us thinking about the charts and recording our thoughts on paper.

Paige is gluing her thought to the chart.
Good thinking and lots of writing at the red table.
Libby hard at work and others with their thinking hats on.

The most common good point was photos and pictures.  We decided we needed pictures of the jobs to be done.  And our job chart should have real photos of us to show who should be doing the job.  (Not just drawings of random people as Aden noticed in one of the examples.  Thanks Aden - Great thinking!)

We're hoping to have a new chart up soon so it's easy for us all take part in keeping our classroom a great place to learn.
